Smithville - Opal Coker Frederick Moffett, 84, died on Monday, July 23, 2012, at Gilmore Memorial Regional Medical Center. She was born May 22, 1928. She was a daughter of the late Howard C. and Irene Spann Coker. She was married to Coleman Frederick.
Ms. Moffett grew up in the Bethlehem community, attending Smithville School. She was a member of Bigbee Baptist Church and the Eastern Star. She was a florist in the Smithville area for more than 50 years. She was a devout wife, mother, and grandmother who cherished time spent with her family, and was proud that she could say she raised her children in a good Christian environment. She had a deep seated faith in God, and enjoyed going to church and Gospel singings. Ms. Moffett also enjoyed sewing, cooking, garage sales, fishing, and crocheting.
She is survived by her daughters, Peggy Moreland, Smithville, Pam Wallace, Fulton, Glenda Welch (Bruce), Tupelo; a son, Ronnie Frederick (Pat) of Amory; sister, Joy Walden (Lawrence) of Wren; brother, Lewis Coker (Myrna) of Smithville; grandchildren, Hollye West, Sherry Reeves (Wayne), Talisha Brasfield (Jimmy), Reid Wallace (Molly), Glacia Boyd (Matt), Katie Welch, Marlena Frederick, Natalie Mohler (Brandon); great grandchildren, Curt James (Shannon), Tyler and Austin James, Brooke Pierce (Bryan) , Tori Reeves, Beth Reeves, Sorayla , Sadie, and Stephen Brasfield, Ivy Arnold, Aston Boyd, Brooklyn and Cole Mohler, and Kyland Gray; great great grandchildren, Haven Fretwell, Rylee James, and Tynlee James and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Don Coker.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, July 26 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Tommy Whaley, Bro. Lewis Coker, and Bro. Gary Gray officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Larry and Jerry Walden, Ben Spann, Byron Coker, Bruce Welch, and Brandon Mohler.
Visitation will be from 5 - 8 PM, Wednesday at the funeral home.
