Amory – Mrs. Ollie Bell Parham, 94, died on Monday, September 20, 2010, at NMMC, Tupelo. Born on May 3, 1916, in Splunge, she was a daughter of the late Virgil Clifton & Iuna Noe Stanford.
Mrs. Parham had lived in Becker and Bigbee before moving to the Parham Community 58 years ago. She worked as a seamstress for Longnecker’s for forty years. A faithful member of New Hope Church of Christ, she was a member of the Ladies Bible class and enjoyed reading her Bible. Very outgoing, Mrs. Parham loved to cook for her family, especially on Sunday’s after church. She enjoyed quilting, was a member of the Hatley Ladies Quilting Club, and enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening. Mrs. Parham loved hummingbirds and spending time with her dog, Blackie.
She is survived by a son, Jimmy G. (Martha) Brown, Hatley; daughters, Julia Rae (Herbert) Parham, Parham Community, Bonny Parham, Amory, and Bobbie Jean Amos, Atlanta; brother, Harold (Wanda) Stanford, Oakland, AR; sisters, Dorothy Pickle and Clara Jean (Russell) Tubbs, Amory; caregivers, Melody Nethery, Jean Pickle, Holly Miller and Melissa West; grandchildren, Vicki (Donald) Barksdale, Greg (Karla) Parham, Angela (Jeff) Hall, Keith Brown and fiancé, Kim; Terri Cummings, and Gina (Jon Mark) Wilkinson; great-grandchildren, Nicholas (Nicole) Miller, Carley Brown, Austin Hall, Madison Parham, John Lance Cummings, Brady Hall, Max Parham, Cooper Hall, Molly Parham, and Peyton, Kenlee and Jon Garett Wilkinson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Merle R. Brown and John S. Parham; son, Oneil Parham; brothers, Earnest, J. D., Junior, Joe, and James Earl Stanford; and sisters, Flora Seales, Myrtle Cantrell and Jeraldine Thompson.
A Funeral service for Mrs. Parham will be held at 2 PM, Wednesday, September 22 at the funeral home with Bro. David Highland and Bro. Tommy Whaley officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jon Mark Wilkinson, Jeff Hall, Donald Barksdale, Bobby Cantrell, Monty McCormick, Larry Seales, and Brad Stanford. Honorary pallbearers will be Jackie Seales, Danny Stanford, David Stanford and Dennis Pickle.
Visitation will continue on Wednesday until the service hour.
For those who prefer in lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to New Hope Church of Christ, 60417 Hatley-Detroit Rd., Amory, MS 38821.
