Olena Morton

Caledonia – Annie Olena Morton, 85, while at her residence in Caledonia, passed away and began her new life in Heaven on Thursday, December 16, 2021. Olena was born April 11, 1936, in Beaverton, Alabama, to the late William Henry Allen and Anetta Mangum Allen.

Olena grew up and attended school in Beaverton, Alabama with a very large family, being one of ten siblings. She learned early the value of family and lending a hand. One of her lifetime friends, since 3rd grade, was Viola Stockman. Olena married the love of her life, Glover Morton, and together they had many wonderful years together. Eventually they moved to Mississippi and were blessed by God with four children. She had the most important job, she was a homemaker and her family meant the world to her. Olena was a loving, caring wife, mother and grandmother “Nunny” and many considered her an angel.

A Christian woman, Olena loved the Lord and instilled in her family the genuine love of Christ. She was member of Mt. Pleasant Free Will Baptist Church and she loved singing gospel and southern gospel. Besides spending time with her family, she enjoyed being around her prayer partners, Barbara Honnoll and Peggy Flippo, with whom she lifted so many people up to the Lord. Olena liked reading the Bible daily, working in her yard, quilting, and sewing. A wise woman, at times, she would stop someone in their tracks by saying “Nip it, Nip it, Nip it”.

Her family is so grateful to God for all that she was in their lives. They know that the legacy of faith she passed on will continue for generations. She will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her son, Glenn Allen Morton (Barbara), Caledonia; daughters, Carol Flippo (Glenn), Clyo, GA and Sherry Flippo (Paul), Rincon, GA; grandchildren, Jason Flippo (Brandy), Jeremy Flippo (Josie), Josh Flippo, Tammy Luckey (Lance), Zack Flippo (Rebecca), Terry Flippo, Tracey Montgomery, Nolen Bartow (Brandi), Katrina Earls (Justin); 24 great-grandkids; 6 great-great-grandkids; sisters, Juanita Adkins, Hatley, Hennie McCutchon, Steens, and Sarah Allen, Aberdeen, and Edith Allen, Nettleton, and Irene Allen, Caledonia; brothers, Troy Allen (Joyce), Bay St. Louis; and a huge host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Glover Morton; son, Thomas Morton; daughter-in-law, Sherrie Morton; brothers, Bill Allen, Roy Allen, Ray Allen, Coy Allen, and Roger Allen; sister, Lunelle Hood.
