Nettleton – Odell Patterson, 87, went to be with The Lord on Friday, September 9, 2016, at NMMC, Tupelo. Born on March 11, 1929, in Nettleton, he was a son of the late William Earl and Carie Roebuck Patterson.
A lifelong resident of Nettleton, Mr. Patterson attended Nettleton Schools. On April 26, 1947, he married his high school sweetheart, Jean Wilson. They were blessed with a son and daughter. Hard-working and very friendly, he owned and operated Sinclair Service Station in Nettleton along with his wife for 26 years. Upon retiring, Mr. Patterson quickly stayed busy working as a cattle farmer, driving a school bus, working with M&W Butane and later raising goats. He was an active member of Nettleton First United Methodist Church.
Very loving, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was passionate about children, being outdoors and listening to Gospel and Country music. His legacy will continue to live on through his family.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Jean Patterson, Nettleton; daughter, Linda (John) Weaver, Nettleton; son, Terry (Kay) Patterson, Nettleton; sister, Irma Pate, Nettleton; grandchildren, Carrie (Kerry) Scott, Clay (Blair) Patterson, Hope (Chad) Langford, Wilson (Brooke) Weaver; great-grandchildren, Taylor (Ryan) Culver; Cade and Parker Patterson; Drew, Anna, and Leah Langford; Mary Claire and Eleanor Weaver; a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Dewey and Jack Patterson; a sister, Mandy Stanford; a half-brother, James Patterson; and a half-sister, Evelene Griggs.
His Graveside Service will be held at 5 PM, Sunday, September 11, 2016, in New Chapel Cemetery, Nettleton, with Rev. Cecil Locke officiating. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery at 4:50 PM for the service.
