Middleburg, FL – O’Conner Vaughan, 80, died on Sunday, January 29, 2012, at Haven Hospice in Palatka, FL. Born on December 28, 1931, in Amory, he was a son of the late Samuel Raymond & Gracie Mae Cook Vaughan.
Mr. Vaughan attended Hatley High School. Before retiring and moving to Florida, he had worked at Toney’s Bakery, did road construction, working for Kenneth Wright Construction, and drove a truck for Infinger Trucking. He was a member of Black Creek Church of Christ. Mr. Vaughan’s life was guided by his faith and family. Loving, caring, and having a big heart, he volunteered with the Bread Basket at the local Methodist church and with the Old Farm distributing food to those in need. Mr. Vaughan enjoyed fishing, working in the garden, playing cards, and listening to Gospel and Country music.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 AM, Saturday, February 4 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Mr. Philip Hathcock officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Samuel and Justin Vaughan; O’Conner, Daniel, and Michael Pendarvis; and Jason Vaughan. Honorary pallbearers will be Adam, Charles, Raymond Keith, and Sam Vaughan.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Friday at the funeral home.
He is survived by his daughters, Linda Beck (James) and Vera Summers, Middleburg, FL; sons, Daniel Vaughan (Kathy),Monticello GA, Louis Vaughan (Pam), Marion SC, and Jerry Vaughan (Debra), Hatley; sister, Rennia Lynn Buse (Sonny), Saltillo; 22 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lenora Beatrice Vaughan; brother, Jimmy Dale Vaughan; and son-in-law, Richard Summers; granddaughter, Angela Fitt; grandson, Mark Wesley Vaughan.
