Norris Robinson

Amory – Norris Robinson, 79, passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at Northport Medical Center, Northport, AL. Born on September 2, 1937, in Amory, he was a son of the late George Oliver and Jessie Ellen Young Robinson.

Norris was a graduate of Amory High School, Class of 1955. He attended IJC and graduated from Barber School. On January 8, 1956, he married the love-of-his-life, Nita Brewer. Together, they were blessed with a son and daughter. Working full-time as a barber until leaving to join Frisco Railroad, Norris worked as a brakeman and retired in 2002 as a conductor. For six years, he served in the US Army National Guard. A man of strong faith, he was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church, serving as a Deacon and an usher.

Truly cherishing time with his loved ones, Norris enjoyed holidays with family and going to the Friday night auctions with them. He was passionate about being a servant and placing others first. Having a wonderful personality, Norris looked forward to visiting with people at Walmart. He enjoyed eating with family, friends, and fellowshipping at the Master’s Men’s breakfast at Mel’s.

Norris and Nita were blessed to travel and visit places with Bo and Nita Watson and Bill and Beth May. His favorite music was Southern Gospel by The Gaithers and The Cathedrals. Norris’s hobbies were reading the newspaper every morning, watching Old Westerns, working around the house, and Ole Miss football. One who loved his family, especially his grandchildren, and his church, he was an amazing gentleman who was consistently happy and had a very contagious smile. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Nita Robinson; daughter, Haley McLemore; son, Brad Robinson (Martha); and sister, Laverne Williams, all of Amory; grandchildren, Anna Graham (Trent), Peyton McLemore, Isabella Robinson; Sarah Beth and Zach Robinson; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Nita Watson; Bill and Beth May.
