Norma Jean Faris Crosby
Smithville – Norma Jean Faris Crosby, 92, began her new life in Heaven on Monday, January 9, 2023. She was born in Shelbyville, Indiana, on January 21, 1930, to the late Eugene L. Faris and Helen Louise Schooley Faris.
Norma grew up in Alabama and was employed at Coleman Oil Company and Jefferson County School Systems. She married the love of her life Robert Guin Crosby on February 5, 1947, and together they were blessed with four children.
She was a loving mother and family meant the world to her. About ten years ago, she moved to Monroe County to live with her daughter. She was a supportive mother and was always there for them. Norma loved God and attended Smithville Methodist Church. As a Christian, she always liked helping others and made donations to various charities. She loved to listen traditional hymnals.
In her free time, she liked to create crafts especially ceramics. Norma loved vibrant colors and she made beautiful art in her coloring books. In addition to her family, she was close to Margaret Spigner and Diann, her roommate at The Meadows.
Her family knows that she is at peace and reunited with her family in Heaven. They will miss her dearly and will cherish all the memories made with her through the years.
Left behind to cherish her memories are her daughters, Cindy Lou Crosby Silas, Smithville, Nanette Louise Crosby Silas, Trussville; her son, Gregory Linn Crosby, Jasper, AL; grandchildren, Neil Ramey, Scott Ramey, Lisa Strickland, David Crosby, Trisha, Michael Silas, Mandy Lesley, Chad Silas, Ross Silas, Josh Silas, Kala Sellers, Kari Gargus, Stephanie Crosby, and Mark Crosby; great-grandchildren, Andrew Ramey, Justin Strickland, Ashley Strickland, Natalie Reece, Landry Silas, Knox Silas, Mikah-Beth Lesley, Tinley Grace Lesley, Charleigh Faith Silas, Jaxon Allen Silas, Ryder Jay Silas, Beau Baxter Silas, Kinsley Michelle Sellers, SaraH Grace Gargus and many others.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Gwin Crosby; a daughter, Gwendolyn Kay Crosby Ramey; a brother, Eugene Faris.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Friday, January 13, 2023, at 2:00 pm at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Trussville, Alabama.
