Nora Williams Mullen

Amory – Nora Williams Mullen, 71, passed away at her residence in Amory, Mississippi. Born on July 14, 1944, in Grenada, MS, she was the daughter of the late George Randolph and Grace Helen Wyndham Williams.

Nora graduated with the Grenada High School Class of 1962. She also attended Delta State to further her education. She married the love of her life, Festus Melvin Mullen in 1964. Together, they raised a family and were blessed with four children. A caring woman, she had one of the hardest jobs for women, she was a Homemaker. While living in West Memphis, Arkansas, she was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church. Later in life, after moving to Amory, she attended Meadowwood Baptist Church. Nora loved to cook and she was a wonderful care taker for both her family and her friends. Her specialties were red velvet cakes, biscuits, and Chicken and Dumplings.

One of her other many skills was sewing. She sewed for her girls as well as for the general public. Her loving spirit and nurturing character was especially obvious when she was around her grandchildren. She cherished them and she also enjoyed spending time with her pets. She loved to read all sorts of books and was quite well versed in literature. She enjoyed listening to the Gaither Vocal Group. Nora did many things with her hands, including making beautiful things and flower gardening. Her biggest and most appreciated accomplishment in life was being a wonderful homemaker and caretaker for her family. All that knew her loved her and she will be missed dearly.

Survivors include her daughters, Susan Truitt (Bruce), Murfreesboro, TN; Stephanie Gallop (Patrick), Wren, MS; sons, Scott Mullen (Lorri), Eads, TN, Steven Mullen (Amberly), West Memphis, Arkansas; grandchildren, Ashley Hopkins; Matthew Truitt; Clayton, Grace and Warren Mullen; Lauren and Lillian Gallop.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband.

Her Graveside Service will be held at 11 AM, Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at Woodlawn Cemetery, Grenada, MS, with Dr. Lloyd Sweat officiating.
