Nita Sanderson

Nettleton – Syble Juanita “Nita” Alsup Sanderson, 81, passed away on June 25, 2024, at The Reed House at Traceway Retirement Community in Tupelo, MS. She was born in Booneville, MS, on March 16, 1943, to the late Franklin Lewis Alsup and Syble Ann Matthews Alsup Smith.

Nita grew up in a family with four other siblings and attended school in Kossuth, Mississippi. She married her best friend, Jimmy Grover “Squirrel” Sanderson on July 1, 1987 and they spent nearly 26 years together before his passing. She was blessed by God with a blended family with two daughters and three sons. A hard working and devoted wife and mother, Nita worked and served the community for over thirty years in the restaurant industry. Nita worked at Pickle’s on the Hill for over 30 years and there were not many people in the community she didn’t come in contact with through the years. She was always sweet and often put others before herself. When she was at work, things always ran smooth, she was a very hard worker.

A woman who loved the Lord, she was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church until her health failed. She watched Jimmy Swaggart shows faithfully over the years and enjoyed the worship and messages she heard. Nita loved her family, passed on her faith in God and instilled in them the importance of promptness. She was passionate about Diabetes education and research. Nita liked to listen to Country music, gospel and any music out of Jimmy Swaggart ministries. Nita had a green thumb and really enjoyed watching God’s beautiful flowers growing.

Her family and friends will miss her so much yet they know that she is healed and at rest. She will remain in their hearts forever.

Left behind to treasure the memories are her daughter, Bonnie S. Finney(Gary), Amory; sons, Jeff G. Sanderson, Memphis, TN, Jay Sanderson (Anita), Baldwyn, MS, and Jon B.
