Amory – Nellie Faye Easley Cooper, 84, died on Monday, November 28, 2011, at Golden Living Center. Born on September 23, 1927, in Coahoma County, she was a daughter of the late Stanley Clifton and Mary Ethel Dye Easley.
Growing up in a sharecropper family, Mrs. Cooper attended New Liberty School in Calhoun County. Before retiring, she worked as a housekeeper at Calhoun County Nursing Home. Mrs. Cooper was of the Primitive Baptist faith. A very loving lady who had a big heart, her passion was helping others. Always looking forward to spending time with family, Mrs. Cooper enjoyed tracing the family’s genealogy, sewing, and Gospel music.
She is survived by her sons, Ronnie Lester (Arlene), Amory, Ricky Lester (Rachel), Stringer, Delwin Lester, Colorado, and Tony Lester (Crystal), Starkville; sisters, Betty Shields, Evelyn Stanford, Mabel Tackett, and Ann Smith (Dale), all of Amory; brother, Edward Easley (Martha), Amory; grandchildren, Lindsay Lester, Sonja Stewart, Joshua Lester, Traci Rico, Scott Lester, and Megan Pope; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Opal Howell, Calhoun City.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Edward Cooper; son, Lamar Edward Lester; twin sister, Nettie Mae Easley; and brother, Jesse Easley.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, December 1 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Elder Tim Cunningham and Elder Tony Lester officiating. A Graveside Service will be held at 1 PM, Thursday in Mt. Herman Cemetery in the New Liberty Community of Calhoun County. Pallbearers will be Scott Lester, Joshua Lester, Billy Porter Griffin, Greg Griffin, Andy Smith, and Dale Smith.
Visitation will be from 5 – 7 PM, Wednesday at the funeral home.
