Amory – Lois Nelle Brasfield Williams, 88, passed away on Sunday, November 29, 2015, at Oak Tree Nursing Center in Amory. Born on February 8, 1927, in Smithville, she was the daughter of the late James Paul and Cora Crouch Brasfield.
Nelle attended and proudly graduated from Smithville High School. She also furthered her education by attending East Mississippi College. She married James W. Williams on April 28, 1943 and together they had two children. They were married for 71 years. Nelle worked in the Medical Records field and retired from Methodist Hospitals in 1985. She was a faithful member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church in Amory. She had a green thumb as she loved working with flowers and gardening. She was talented and cooked wonderful meals for her loved ones. She was also giving and volunteered her time at Amory Food Pantry and Meals on Wheels. One of her favorite friends was Doris Ruth Kemp, from Louisville, MS, and they wrote each other often. She also liked to visit with all the ladies from St. Andrews. Nelle loved listening to Reba McIntire and country music. In life, she cherished her family more than anything, especially her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The cherished memories she left behind with her loved ones will last forever.
She is survived by a son, Joel Williams (Debi), Olive Branch; daughter, Lisa Perry (Bill), Munford, TN; brother, Dane Brasfield (Joyce), Muscle Shoals, Al; sister in law, Doris Brasfield, Aberdeen; Grandchildren, Laura Rainey MacIsaac (Roger), Birmingham, Al, Sarah Sheppard (Brian), Evergreen, CO, James Thompson, Nashville, TN; Great-Grandchildren, Griffin and Kai Sheppard, Evergreen, CO; nieces and nephews, Jane B. Tinkham, Craig Brasfield, Bill Williams, Margaret Williams, Pamela Keefer, Dennis Williams; special friends, Doris Ruth Kemp, Louisville, Ladies of St. Andrews UMC.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Williams; brother, Don Brasfield.
A Graveside Funeral Service will be held at 2 PM, Wednesday, December 2, 2015, at Oddfellows Cemetery, Aberdeen, with Rev. Brian Gordon officiating. Burial will follow. Pallbearers will be friends and family members.
Visitation will be from 11 AM – 1:30 PM, Wednesday, December 2, 2015, at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory.
