Aberdeen – Neal Franklin Johnson, 78, died on Wednesday, February 1, 2012, at PressiCare Personal Care Home. Born on August 3, 1933, in Newport, AR, he was a son of the late Joseph and Gertie M. Brown Johnson.
Mr. Johnson honorably served his Country in the US Army. He worked as a singer and songwriter in California before moving back to Monroe County. Mr. Johnson was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. Kind-hearted with a big heart and a gentle spirit, he enjoyed singing, playing the guitar, writing songs, and gardening.
A Committal Service with Military Honors will be held at 1 PM, Saturday, February 4 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Monaghan and Bro. Austin Bowen officiating. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
He is survived by his daughters, Starla Pietranczyk (James), Dunkirk, NY, and Charlotte Snipes(Henry), Attala, AL; his son, Andy Johnson (Margaret) of Attala, AL; 9 grandchildren, Shane Dadkhah, Amanda Kshavarz, Alicia Johnson, Juanita Roberts, Cevey Absher, Duane Roberts, Eric Snipes, Beth Snipes, Jacob Snipes; 13 great-grandchildren; and special friends, Danny Hester, Columbus, and China Johnson, Aberdeen.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Corzette; brother, Junior; 4 Half-Brothers.
