Nancy Mitchell Swift

Nancy Christine Mitchell Swift, 63, of Pelham, Alabama, died Wednesday, March 14, 2018. Born on December 11, 1954, in Amory, she was a daughter of Everett and Betty Mitchell.

She graduated from Hatley High School and went on to receive her degree in Nursing from Mississippi University for Women in 1975. For over 40 years, Nancy was a nurse at various hospitals in Mississippi and for the last 10 years she was a Nursing Supervisor in Surgery at UAB Highlands. She was a member of Westwood Baptist Church. Nancy survived breast and colon cancer.

(Abraham Lincoln) Nancy had a passion and great love for her family, friends, church, and co-workers at UAB Highlands Hospital. She loved to travel, read, and play piano. Wherever she went, she never met a stranger - just loved people and life. Nancy always greeted you with a smile and a hug and never left you without an "I love you!"

In 2006, Nancy met Tony Swift and they were married in August 2007. She is survived by her husband; daughter, Angie (Kerry) Mitchell; sons, Chad (Melanie) Posey and Chase Swift; stepmother, Clytee Mitchell; brother, Dennis (Debbie) Mitchell; sisters, Melissa (Keith) Lindsey, and Krisha (Buddy) Mims; step-brother, Steve Flynn; two beloved grandsons, a host of nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. She was preceded in death by her parents and step-sister, Patricia Mobley.

There will be a Celebration of Life service for Nancy at Westwood Baptist Church in Alabaster, AL, on March 19, 2018, with visitation from 2 - 4 p.m. with the service immediately following.

There will be a second Celebration of Life service at Hatley Missionary Baptist Church in Hatley, MS, on March 20, 2018, with visitation from 2 - 4 p.m. with services immediately following with burial at Masonic Cemetery in Amory, MS.
