Amory- Nancy Stiles Steed died Friday, August 2, 2013 at Gilmore Memorial Regional Medical Center in Amory. Born February 9 in Baldwyn, she was a daughter of the late Glover Triplett Stiles, Sr. and Helen Smythe Stiles. She married Donald Steed in 1960.
Mrs. Steed grew up in and graduated high school in Baldwyn. She attended First Baptist Church of Amory, and was a member of the Pilot Club of Amory and Beta Sigma Phi. Nancy retired from South Central Bell and also worked at the P&S Clinic and Blacks Department Store in Amory. She enjoyed traveling, especially to Atlanta and St. Louis to watch baseball, needlepoint, crossword puzzles and reading. A collector of antiques, she had an enormous collection of glassware that she was very proud of.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Donald G. Steed, Amory and her sister, Helen Chisholm, Charleston, SC. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a sister, Sara Jane Stiles; brothers, Glover T. Stiles, Jr. and Dale Stiles.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2pm, Monday, August 5, 2013 at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory, with Dr. Allen Simpson and Bro. Wes White officiating. Burial will follow in Haughton Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Bob and Lyman Chisholm, John Nestor, Tim Nelson, Prentiss Wiggington, Charles Marshall, Lester Cagle, and Curtis Lewellen.
