Miriam L. Mccaine

Greenwood Springs— Miriam Mize McCaine, 82, entered her heavenly home on Wednesday, February 6, 2019. Born at home in Quincy on October 22, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Greely and Burma Easter Mize.

Miriam graduated from Greenwood Springs High School. Throughout her career, she worked at the Gattman Garment Plant and the Penthouse Furniture Factory. Additionally, she worked as a CNA for Oak Tree Manor. At the Gattman plant, she met Tommie Gene Bailey, and they became lifelong friends. On March 28, 1964, she married her sweetheart, Mack McCaine. She was blessed with a loving and close-knit family whom she adored. Miriam was a faithful member of Living Waters Assembly of God in Priestville. Her faith in God and her love for her family guided her throughout her life.

Miriam loved sittin’ and talkin’ with her friends, and would spend days chatting at the Country Store in Greenwood Springs. A social, outgoing Southern lady, she never met a stranger and loved everybody she met. In her free time, she enjoyed hitting up the yard sales and auctions on the weekends, playing cards, and listening to Southern Gospel music. Above all, raising her children and grandchildren gave her the greatest joy of her life. Miriam was well loved and will be missed dearly, but her family rejoices in her homegoing to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Miriam is survived by her step-daughter, Teena McCoy, Southhaven; daughters-in-law, Joyce McCaine, Greenwood Springs, Janet Williams, Priestville; grandchildren, Dylan Williams (Jennifer), Hamilton, Sherry Morris (Steve), Smithville, James McCaine, Greenwood Springs, Mike McCoy (Kristi), Southhaven, Brent McCoy (Erika), Haleyville, AL; great-grandchildren, Jennifer Chavis, Hunter McCaine, Cali Box, Conner Williams, Grace Watkins, Kendall McCoy, Lucy Kate McCoy, Eleanor McCoy, and Silas McCoy.

In addition to her parents, Miriam was preceded in death by her husband, H.A. “Mac” McCaine; sons, Harold Williams, Fred “Freddy” McCaine; granddaughter, Amber Watkins; great-grandson, Hayden Williams; son-in-law, David McCoy; brother, Willie Gayle “Butch” Mize; and sister, Evelyn Holliday.
