Miriam Virginia Harmon Kirkpatrick passed away on Monday, April 15, 2024 at White Oak Nursing Facility, Charleston, South Carolina. She was born January 7, 1933 in Becker to John William Harmon and Inez Kendrick Harmon.
She graduated from Amory High School in 1950 where she was an all-star basketball player. She married Jimmie Wesley Kirkpatrick on February 24, 1952 at Greenbrier United Methodist Church, Miriam was a lifelong member at Greenbrier and served the Church as secretary for over fifty years. She worked as an accountant/secretary for various individuals and retired as a legal secretary for Claude A. Chamberlin at age 74.
She was an avid golfer, being the first woman to make a hole-in-one at the Amory Golf Club, and participated in and won many tournaments until becoming disabled with rheumatoid arthritis.
She is survived by one son, Jim Kirkpatrick and wife, Terri of Moncks Corner, South Carolina; one grandson, Wes Kirkpatrick (Ivy Kathryn) of Amory; great-granddaughter, Audrey Dozier; one sister, Faye Banks of Brandon, Mississippi; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, John William Harmon and Inez Kendrick Harmon; her husband, Jimmie Kirkpatrick; sister, Wanda Lee; and two brothers, Douglas Harmon and Bob Harmon.
Services will be at EE Pickle Funeral Home on April 22, 2024. Visitation will be from 12pm until 2pm and funeral at 2pm with burial at Greenbrier Cemetery in Becker.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Hudson, David King, Billy Kirkpatrick, Wes Kirkpatrick, Jerry Lewis, and Curtis Vann.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Greenbrier Cemetery, Inc., or to a charity of your choice.
