Amory – Michael “Mike” A. Herring, 63, passed away on October 9, 2022, at his residence in Amory, MS. He was born on September 11, 1959, in Amory, MS to the late Ulas Bryson Herring and Shirley Capps Herring.
Mike grew up in Monroe and Desoto County, graduating from Southaven High School, Southaven, MS. He was a hard worker and was self-employed as a welder. Mike owned and operated a welding company and throughout his career, he worked at many locations. He was at Scribner Equipment for over 10 years, as well as B & W Boiler Maker in West Point, MS. Mike was a workaholic, talented and quick on his feet, ensuring his work was perfectly completed on time and efficiently. He took great pride in his work and when others did substandard work, it bothered him as they represented the same trade.
He was Methodist, believed in God, and was blessed by God with three sons, grandchildren, two sisters and extended family. In his free time, he liked to enjoy the outdoors while fishing and listening to country music, especially Billy Currington. He liked to work on cars and was always the life of the party when there was a gathering.
Mike was a good man and will be missed so much by his friends and family. The memories made with him through the years will be cherished.
He is survived by his son, Devin Shedd, Georgia; sisters, Judy McFarling, Amory, Pam Worley (Jim), Booneville; grandchildren, Cooper and Rylyn Shedd, Georgia; Keagan and Talin Shedd, Georgia; nieces and nephews, Jason O’Connor (Christina), Josh Tubb, Jake O’Connor, Keri Pickle (Josh), Bart McFarling (Jill); great-niece, Brooklyn O’Connor, Asher Pickle, Mac Pickle, Lauren McFarling.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, Nicholas Herring and Zachary Shedd; brother-in-law, Paul McFarling.
A graveside Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, October 16, 2022, at 2:00 pm at Greenbrier Cemetery in Becker, MS, with Bro. Justin Myers officiating. Burial will follow.
