, WI - Maxine O’Clay Minga, 88, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 5, 2011, at United Hospital System-Kenosha Campus surrounded by her loving family. Born on January 24, 1923, in Mississippi, she was the daughter of the late Robert Burdine and Amy Augusta Clementine Weaver Fears.Maxine was a graduate of Hatley High School and the last survivor of the Girls’ Championship team. On December 25, 1941, she married Leron Eugene Minga. Moving to Kenosha in 1957, Maxine was employed by Warwicks in Zion, IL, Montgomery Wards, and retired from AMC in the 1980’s. In 1985, she moved to Hatley and returned to Kenosha in 2005. She was a former member of Hatley Church of Christ. Maxine was a master seamstress and enjoyed gardening, sketching, and playing cards with her family.She is survived by her sons, Leron Minga, Jr., Hatley, and Robert Minga (Terri), Kenosha, WI; grandchildren, Brandon Minga (Angela) and Matthew Minga; and a great-grandchild, Madisyn Raethke.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband on January 10, 1992; sisters, Evelyn Couvillon, Mary Alice Jones, Lillian Minga and Judith Villella; and brothers, O’Neal and Hank Fears.A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1 PM, Saturday, November 12 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Mr. Philip Hathcock officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery.
