Maxine Chism

Smithville – Mary Maxine Tackett Chism, 80, died May 20, 2011 at Golden Triangle Baptist Hospital in Columbus. A native of Monroe County, she was born May 16, 1931 to the late Albert and Mattie Box Tackett.
Maxine attended Monroe County School. She married Earnest Chism on November 7, 1947. She was an active member of Trace Road Baptist Church and was involved in Senior Saints. Maxine was a homemaker and always a mother to her children and grandchildren. She loved sitting in her swing and listening to gospel music. Her hobbies included cooking, traveling and fishing with her husband.
She is survived by her son, Steve Chism (Anita) of Amory; her daughter, Gail Chism Waters (Mike) of Tupelo; brothers, glen Tackett (Joann) of Amory and Wayne Tackett (Helen) of Smithville; grandchildren, Angie Smith, Lacy Ramirez, Misty Hughes, Tracy Mitchell and Stephen Chism; step-grandchildren, Michelle Wardlaw, Anthony, Michael and Wade Morris; great-grandchildren, Brandy and Brandon Lann, Gauge Smith, Chance and Caleb Ramirez, Hannah Mitchell, Kristen Pemberton, Clay Mitchell, Ryan Mitchell, Colin Hughes; numerous step-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earnest Chism.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2pm, Monday, May 23, 2011 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro Jamie Stark and Bro Tommy Whaley officiating. Burial will follow in Young Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Brandon Lann, Bobby and Clay Mitchell, Hunter, Stephen and Dan Chism.
Visitation will be at the funeral home Sunday, May 22, 2011, 5-9 pm and continue Monday until time for the service to begin.
