Maxine S. Brown

Maxine Sullivan Brown
Greenwood Springs – Maxine Sullivan Brown, 98, passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2017, at Gilmore Memorial Hospital. Born on November 14, 1918, in Monroe County, she was a daughter of the late John Daniel and Fannie Estelle Palmer Sullivan.
Maxine graduated from Greenwood Springs High School. While in school, she was athletic and loved to play 3 on 3 basketball. She married James G. Brown on April 26, 1936, and together they were blessed with three children. Maxine had one of the most important jobs in society; she was a housewife and mother. Later in life, she was blessed with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an active member of Splunge Baptist Church and enjoyed listening to Gospel, Bluegrass and Country music. Maxine lived a long fulfilling life and was a good wife and nurturing mother.
She loved working in her flower gardens and serving the Lord through various jobs at her church and her community. Some of her closest friends were Ruby Gideon, Violet Hamilton, and Gladys Jourdan. Her closest friend was her Lord and Savior and she lived her life serving others. During her lifetime, Maxine had experienced the loss of many of her loved ones, yet her faith kept her strong. Though she will be missed dearly, her family and friends celebrate her home-going to Heaven.
