Mattie 'Snookum' Allison

Amory – Mattie Mae “Snookum” Allison, 87, died on Thursday, April 5, 2012, at NMMC, Tupelo. Born on April 19, 1924, in Monroe County, MS, she was a daughter of the late Willie Clifton and Maude Mae Strawhorn.
Mrs. Allison was a graduate of Amory High School, Class of 1942. She married John Wayne Allison on October 14, 1960. Retiring as a bookkeeper with Brasfield and Horne Furniture Company, Mrs. Allison began her career working with Elmore’s in Amory and Hartselle, AL. Strong in her faith, she was a member of First Baptist Church and the Wilma Stockton Sunday School class. Although she had no children of her own, Mrs. Allison was a mother and grandmother figure to numerous cousins. She loved her friends and enjoyed playing cards with her Canasta groups.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, April 7, at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Dr. Allen Simpson and Bro. Jimmy McFatter officiating. Burial will follow in Masonic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robert Kuykendall, Wayne Kuykendall, David Kuykendall, II, Anthony Hiatt, Mike Cannon, and Bobby Richardson. Honorary pallbearers will be David Kuykendall, Sr., Kevin Threadgill, Mark Cannon, and Daniel Threadgill.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Friday at the funeral home.
The last member of her immediate family, Mrs. Allison is survived by several cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
