Amory – Mattie Natrene “Nay” Lantrip, 92, died on Tuesday, May 5, 2015, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. She was born on June 19, 1922, in Amory to the late William Wardlaw and Lily Jane Jones Allred.
In 1938, she married Benton Lantrip. Mrs. Lantrip was a member of Smithville Baptist Church and loved her ministry of sending cards to her church family and friends. A very loving and kind mother and grandmother, her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were the joy of her life. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, and gardening. Compassionate and caring, she loved people, was very approachable, and was easy to love.
Survivors include her two daughters, Shirley Jordan (Hoyte) and Mary Elizabeth Ritter (Van) of Amory; her grandchildren, Pat Holloway (Tim), Wren, Amy Easter, Brandon, and Sam Ritter (Dara), Saltillo; her great-grandchildren, Katelin Holloway, Abbie Easter, Andy Easter, Reid Ritter, Landry Ritter, Reagan Ritter, and Audrey Ritter; a host of nieces & nephews; and special caretaker, Vickie Duncan, Amory.
In addition to her parents and husband, Benton Lantrip, she was preceded in death by her sisters and brothers.
A Funeral Service will be held at 12 PM, Saturday, May 9, 2015, at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory with Bro. Wes White and Dr. Lloyd Sweatt officiating. Burial will follow in Haughton Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Sam Ritter, Andy Easter, Tim Holloway, Eddie Cantrell, R. W. Cantrell, Mitch Willis, and Bobby Harper. Honorary pallbearer will be Charles Tubb.
Visitation will be from 10 AM until the service hour at the funeral home.
