Mattie Alice Deaton

Thomasville, AL - Mattie Alice Nichols Deaton, 94, died on Friday, September 28, 2012, at Mobile Infirmary. She was born on November 5, 1917, in Nicholsville, AL.

Formerly of Amory, Mrs. Deaton held many jobs from drug store clerk to waitressing.

She is survived by her sons, William Fendley (Dot) and James R. Fendley, both of Thomasville, AL; and Melvin T. Fendley, Saraland, AL; daughters, Betty Thompson, Thomasville, AL, and Carolyn Roberts, Grove Hill, AL; step-daughter, Ann Hudson (Bob), Bel Air, MD; step-sons, James Nichols, Sr., (Jackie), Memphis, TN, and William Deaton of Amory; daughter-in-law, Judy Nichols, Grove Hill, AL; sisters, Anna Lou Johnson, Selma, AL, and Evelyn Ross, Selmont, AL; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 – 8 PM, Sunday at O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home, Thomasville, AL.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 PM, Monday, October 1 at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory with Rev. George Collins officiating. Burial will follow in Haughton Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 1 PM until the service hour on Monday at the funeral home.
