Amory – Mary Ann Vaughn, 65, died on Sunday, May 15, 2011, at Gilmore Memorial RMC, Amory. Born on February 27, 1946, in the Tilden Community of Itawamba County, she was a daughter of the late E. T. & Ova Mae Guin Knight.
Mrs. Vaughn attended Tilden and Smithville Schools. She was of the Baptist faith. Before retiring, Mrs. Vaughn worked as a seamstress for Amory Garment and Monroe Trousers. Out-going and fun-loving, she enjoyed watching hummingbirds, working puzzles, fishing, and listening to Gospel music and music by Alabama. A very caring mother and grandmother, Mrs. Vaughn’s children and grandchildren were very important to her.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Robert Vaughn, Amory; daughter, Tammie Renea Vaughn and special friend, Clara Bush, Smithville; son, Robert (Jennifer) Vaughn, Jr., Smithville; sisters, Martha (Robert) Fowlkes and Margaret (Billy) Hall, Amory, Mavis (Bobby Joe) Towery, Smithville, Melissa (Tommy) Terry, Aberdeen, and Lynn (Earl) Capps, Saltillo; brothers, Earnest (Marsha Gail) Knight, Amory and Etness Knight, Smithville; sister-in-law, Shirley Vaughn; grandchildren, Les, Rebecca, and Piper Vaughn; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Jimmy and Charlotte Puckett, Carolyn Galloway, Edith Allen, Iva Nell West and Mary Bolin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Joe Knight.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2 PM, Tuesday, May 17, 2011, at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory with Bro. Robert Fowlkes officiating. Burial will follow in New Salem Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jason Knight, Bobby Joe Towery, Bruce Benton, Billy Hall, Lance Knight, and Earl Capps. Honorary pallbearers will be Rubel Berryhill and Keith Towery.
Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607.
