Amory – Mary Ruth Thompson Adams Miller, 87, gained her heavenly wings on Wednesday, March 24, 2021. She was a daughter born on February 10, 1934, in Monroe County to the late John Thompson and Carrie Ball Thompson.
Ruth grew up in Monroe County. She attended school for a while yet left early to begin working to help her family. Ruth worked as a seamstress, initially at Glenn Manufacturing and later at Sara Lou Fashions in Green Wood Springs, MS. Towards the end of her career, she worked in Housekeeping at Beverly Healthcare in Amory.
Ruth had a heart of gold and was a happy soul. She was always jolly and liked to have fun with friends and family. Ruth was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Quincy and she loved the Lord. She would help anybody in need if she were able. Ruth supported the Shiners organization and she believed in putting others first.
In her free time, she liked to listen to gospel and country music. She collected clocks and dolls. Some of her close friends were Sally Simmons and Joan Tribble. They liked to travel, solve all the world’s problems by chatting, and drinking coffee together.
Above all Ruth loved her family dearly. She was always a blessing to others with her wisdom and giving heart. The family knows that she is at peace with her Savior and is healed. A special thanks is given to The Meadows Nursing Home staff as well as Kindred Hospice for their kind care given to her.
