Milwaukee - Mary Ellen "Maggie" Harrison Root, 91, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, November 18, 2012.
Mary Ellen became a National Celebrity in 1955 by becoming Kellogg's "Miss Good Morning." She was also active in many civic organizations including United Fund, March of Dimes, and the Boy Scouts of America for nearly 50 years. A beloved mother, Mary Ellen was a true Southern Belle. The heavens are now filled with the aroma of her cooking! Her Memory will live on in the hearts and minds of all she touched.
She is survived by her sons, Bradley, James and Roger (Dawn); proud grandma of Ryan, Lance, Todd and Rachel; a sister, Ruth "G" Torrey; her best friends, Lynn and Debbie, and Cora Lee Rogers; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many loving friends.
Her funeral and committal service were held on Friday, November 23 at Wisconsin Memorial Park Chapel of the Chimes, Brookfield, WI.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 PM, Tuesday, December 11 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory with Mr. Philip Hathcock officiating.
The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Amory Church of Christ or Christian Chapel Church of Christ.
