Booneville – Mary Frances Potts, 80, died on Monday, July 26 at her residence. Born on February 8, 1930, in Becker, she was a daughter of the late Marvin & Rosie Lou McClendon Funderburg. She grew up and attended schools at Quincy and Greenwood Springs. Mrs. Potts married Curtis N. Potts on July 27, 1946. A devoted Christian, she taught Sunday school and worked in the Bus ministry at First Southern Baptist Church, Joliet, IL, for many years. Mrs. Potts was a homemaker. In 1976, she retired to Becker where she was a member of Becker Baptist Church. A wonderful mom, wife and grandmother, she enjoyed Gospel music, fishing, sewing, and cooking. She is survived by daughters, Brenda F. (Larry) Gailor, Booneville and Linda M. (Daryl) Hall, Blue Mountain; son, Curtis R. (Joan Lee) Potts, Booneville; 7 grandchildren, Ronald (Sabrina) Duff, Birmingham, AL, Fredrick Duff, Tupelo, Jennifer Browning and Paul (Paula) Zyla, Jr., New Albany, Jason Zyla, Pataskala, OH, Randy Lee (Samantha) Potts, New Albany, and Melissa (Tony) Enright, Pataskala, OH. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandchild, Jeffrey Potts; sisters, Era Mae Tubb and Celia Faye Young; and brother, Perry Funderburg. A funeral service for Mary F. Potts will be held at 10 AM, Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. Dale Funderburg officiating. Burial will follow in Wiygul Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Fred Duff, Jr., Ryan Duff, Jason Zyla, Paul Zyla, Randy Lee Potts and Zach Zyla. Honorary pallbearer will be Larry Gailor. Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
