Amory – Mary G. Parker, 93, passed away on December 27, 2015, at Merit Health Gilmore Memorial Hospital. Born on September 12, 1922, in Columbus, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Petty and Virgie Flynn Petty Gore.
Mary graduated from Lee High School in Columbus, MS in 1939. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Amory. She was a wonderful mother, caring individual and always full of energy. Mary loved to go shopping, taking care of dogs and cats, and flower gardening. She enjoyed Gospel music and songs by Elvis Presley.
She was an active member of the Flower Lovers Garden Club and loved working in her yard. Her yard received many awards such as the Yard of the Month. She enjoyed growing flowers that no one else had.
Mary worked at the Wilson Manufacturing Company and was the Administrator of the Parker Medical Clinic. She was passionate about St. Jude Children's Hospital and Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital.
Survivors include her daughters: Peggy Glenn, Amory; Jean Grubbs, Nettleton, MS; Dot Curry, Amory. She was also survived by her grandchildren: Malcolm Glenn, Rhonda Finley, Phil Walsh, Dee Walsh, Craig Walsh and Chris Curry. She also leaves her great-grandchildren: Mattison Glenn, Maggie Glenn, Kyle Finley, Clay Finley, Kayla, Hayden, Alexis Walsh Walsh, Karlie Wood, Austin Gentry, McKenzie Gentry, Pierson Curry, Eliana Curry and great-great-grandchildren: Mary Addison Finley and Abigail Reese Finley.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Relennis Blank and Dr. Ellis D. Parker; half-brother, Roy Petty; sister, Lorene Glasgow; and great-granddaughter, Brittany Glenn.
Her Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, December 31, 2015, at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory, with Rev. Jimmy Criddle officiating. Entombment will follow in the Lee Memorial Park, Verona.
Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home.
