Wren – Mary McAfee Lauderdale, 51, died on Saturday, November 1, 2014, at Gilmore Memorial RMC, Amory. Born on June 2, 1963, in Amory, she was a daughter of Margie “Pat” Brown McAfee and the late Dan W. McAfee.
Mary graduated from Hatley High School, Class of 1980. She worked as a nursing assistant at Gilmore Memorial Hospital and as a waitress at Knight’s Drive-In. A very dedicated mom, Mary left work to give 24-hour love and care for her disabled son. Proud of her children, she cherished her time with them and her grandson, Easton. Mary enjoyed watching television, especially Golden Girls, and talking on the phone.
Survivors include her mother, Pat McAfee, Amory; daughters, Haley Woods (Jerren), Smithville and Cortney Parrent (Austin), Navarre, FL; sons, Michael Shane Lauderdale, Wren, Daniel Dykes, North Carolina and Austin Tanner Lauderdale, Wren; sisters, Darlene York (Tony), Dorsey, Cheryl Pounders, Becker and Tina Knight (Curtis), Amory; brother, Richard McAfee (April), Amory; grandchildren, Easton “Toot” Parrent and Jack Daniel Dykes; nieces & nephews, Tiffany, Nick, Chris, Lacey, Jessica, Daniel, Anna, Bunky, Matthew and Tyler; several great-nieces and nephews; special friends, Jim “Rooster” Hawkins, her significant other; Mike Lauderdale; Jim Jordan; and Hanna Reed.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a great-nephew, Christopher Brayden Pennington.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2 PM, Tuesday, November 4 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Pastor Dennis Smithey officiating. Burial will follow in New Home Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Shane Jackson, Bunky Farris, Jim Jordan, Chris McCrory, Matthew Farris and Nick Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be Easton Parrent, Daniel McAfee and Tyler York.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Monday at the funeral home.
