Mary E. Knight

Amory— Mary Evelene Knight, 90, passed away on Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at Diversicare in Amory. Born on February 23, 1928, in Smithville, she was the daughter of James Monroe and Elizabeth Mae Scoggins Knight.

Mary graduated from Smithville High School. She has been a faithful member of Meadowood Baptist Church for many years. Mary was a very kind and loving spirit, and she was a great Southern cook. In her free time, she enjoyed needle point and listening to Southern Gospel music, especially the Gaithers Band. She was also fond of reading Christian novels and Fiction books. Mary also enjoyed cooking for the Midweek Services at Meadowood in Amory and Parkway Baptist in Tupelo. She loved to play card games with her friends on Friday nights. Mary has left lasting memories for her loved ones and friends to remember for years to come.

Mary is survived by her niece, Sandy Hudson (Van Dale), Amory; nephews, Dwight Minor (Sue), Smithville, Forise Minor, Durant; great nephew, Lee Minor (Tammy), Hatley, Dale Hudson (Pamela), Devin Hudson (Ashley), Derek Hudson (Aubrey); and great niece, Lynn Smith, Smithville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Ezra Knight, and sister, Este Lee Minor.

A funeral service will be held for Mary on Saturday, May 12, 2018, at 11AM at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home, with Bro. Van Dale Hudson officiating.

Pallbearers will be family and friends. Burial will follow at Pearce Chapel Cemetery in Smithville.

Visitation will be on Saturday from 9:30 AM until the service hour at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home.
