Mary Maude Hatley

Mary “Maude” Hatley, 93, passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2016, at Merit Health Gilmore Memorial. Born on September 4, 1922, in Shannon, she was a daughter of the late N. David and Tennie Sullivan Richardson.

Maude attended Shannon School and married Wilburn V. Hatley in 1940. Her husband joined the Army and left for Northern France during World War II. She was a patient, loving wife, as she had no contact with her husband for over a year. Maude had faith in God that he would return even though her husband was a POW in Germany. Her husband returned and together they were blessed with two children during their lifetime. She was a loving, feisty, and strong-willed lady, with her family and faith as her passionate priorities. Maude was a homemaker and member of Faith Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening with her husband; quilting; antiquing; bird watching, especially hummingbirds; and storytelling. Her favorite music was Gospel and Country. Known for making the best fried chicken and chocolate cake, she will be dearly missed by her friends and family.

She is survived by her sons-in-law, Frank Loeffler, Leavenworth, KS, and Billy C. Kirkendoll, Tuscaloosa, AL; grandchildren, Danny Howell, Cindy Davis, Michael (Stacie) Loeffler, Michelle (John) Bollin, Amy (Gary) Garner, Charles Kuykendall, and Renee Weaver; great-grandchildren, Ashli, Caitlin, and D. J. Howell; Brittany Ann and Tyler Garner; Jill (Cody) Harrelson; Jack Bollin; great-great-grandchildren, Ayden Lowery; Gracie and Cali Harrelson; and close friends, Billie Young, Collette Mitchell and Ann Bridges.

In addition to her parents and husband of 55 years, she was preceded in death by her daughters, Helen Hatley Loeffler and Elizabeth Hatley Kirkendoll; 3 sisters; 4 brothers.

Her Funeral Service will be held at 12 PM, Saturday, April 30, 2016, at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory, with Dr. Jim Harrington and Mr. James Parish officiating. Burial will follow in Providence Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Danny Howell, Michael Loeffler, Michelle Bollin, John Bollin, Gary Garner, Dylan Welch, D. J.
