Amory – Mary Green Frederick Hathcock, 91, died on Tuesday, October 11, 2011, at Golden Living Center. Born on July 14, 1920, in Marion County, AL, she was a daughter of the late Eldon and Pearl Thompson Frederick.
Mrs. Hathcock attended Monroe County School. On December 28, 1948, she married Napoleon Hathcock. Before becoming a homemaker, Mrs. Hathcock worked as a seamstress in the garment industry and owned and operated Hathcock’s Cloth Shop. She was a member of New Hope Primitive Baptist Church. Very caring, outgoing, and having an infectious smile, Mrs. Hathcock’s life was centered on her faith and family; she and her husband were inseparable. In addition to being the family historian, she enjoyed sewing, quilting, singing, fellowshipping with her friends, reading, and Gospel music.
She is survived by her daughters, Marilyn Hathcock, Smithville and Melissa H. Miller (Bronson), Amory; son, Dwight Hathcock (Sible), Smithville; sisters, Doris Irvin, Smithville and Lyn Horn, Amory; brother, Gary Frederick, Smithville; and 34 nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Napoleon Hathcock; a son, Dwayne Hathcock; and a brother, Coleman Frederick.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 PM, Thursday, October 13 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Elder Tim Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tim Irvin; Steve Horn; Keith, Randy, and Andy Hathcock; Greg Coker; and Taylor Horn.
Visitation will be from 5 - 8 PM, Wednesday at the funeral home and will continue until the service hour on Thursday.
