Amory, Miss.—Mary Ruth Hannon Cowart, 88, died on Sunday, March 23, 2014 at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Born January 10, 1926 in Belmont, she was a daughter of James Russell and Mary Turbille Hannon and she married Herbert Cowart.
A woman of faith, she was a member of First Baptist Church in Amory. Before her retirement, she was self-employed as a beautician. Known for her generosity, she took pleasure in giving to others.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at the E.E. Pickle Funeral Home Chapel in Amory with Dr. Allen Simpson and Rev. Jimmy McFatter officiating. Burial will be in the Haughton Memorial Park.
Survivors include three sons, Boyd Cowart (Lisa) of Fulton; Jimmy Cowart (Dawn) of Iuka; and Todd Cowart (Maria) of Southaven; 6 grandchildren, Candi Lauderdale (Steve), Kim Cowart (Kacie), Kevin Cowart, Rachel Smith, Loren Cowart, and Logan Cowart; and 3 great grandchildren, Preston Cross, Cameron Cowart, and Hannon Cowart.
She was preceded death by her parents; her husband, Herbert Cowart; and several brothers and sisters.
Pallbearers will be Dewey Hannon, Wayne Weatherbee, Wade Weatherbee, Matt Hannon, Glen Ray Harris, and Don Leathers.
Visitation will be 5 until 7 p.m. on Monday evening and will continue until service time on Tuesday at the funeral home.
