Born on October 9, 1923, in Itawamba County, she was a daughter of the late Vester and Roxie Camp Leech.Mrs. Cody attended Itawamba County Schools and married Carney Lee Cody in 1938. After moving back from Illinois, she owned and operated Cody’s Fruit Market in Amory and Fulton. A kind and loving lady, Mrs. Cody was a faithful member of St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church. Her faith and family were very important to her. Having never met a stranger, Mrs. Cody had a contagious smile. She enjoyed reading her Bible, talking with people while working at her fruit stand, watching her children and grandchildren play sports, and cooking for everyone on Sunday afternoons.She is survived by a daughter, Loyce (Sonny) Riggan, Smithville; sister, Carolyn Leech, Amory; brother, Don (Betty) Leech, Amory; grandchildren, Teresa Dill Johnson, Darwyn Riggan, Lisa (David) Hester, Debra (Jerry) Hodge, Chad Dill and Derrick Riggan; great-grandchildren, Jeremy, Dillon and Bethany Flurry, Dustin and Destiny Riggan, J. D. , Jerrin and Jayci Hester, and Cody Johnson; great-great-grandson, Chancellor Stone Riggan; niece, Marsha (Mike) Tapscott; and nephew, Michael (Debbie) Leech. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-mom, Edna Hutson Leech; her husband of 59 years, Carney Cody in 1997; and a daughter, Joyce Dill.A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 PM, Monday at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory with Bro. Jimmy Bryan and Mr. David Highland officiating. Burial will follow in Young Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Chad Dill, Derrick Riggan, Darwyn Riggan, Jerry Hodge, Steve Johnson and Michael Leech. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeremy Flurry, Dustin Riggan and Dillon Flurry.Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Sunday at the funeral home in Amory.Memorials may be given to SE Firefighters’ Burn Foundation, 3614 Dewey Gray Circle, Bldg.
