Amory – Mary Catherine Adams, 87, died on Tuesday, December 23, 2014, at River Place Nursing Center. Born on February 27, 1927, in Monroe County, she was a daughter of the late Jack and Robbie Hathaway Williams.
Mrs. Adams attended Greenwood Springs school where she was captain of the basketball team. Before retiring, she worked as a seamstress with Glenn Mfg. and in the cutting department with Red Kap. Mrs. Adams was a charter member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church. Humble, cordial, and selfless, she loved her family, especially spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A servant who would always place others first, Mrs. Adams enjoyed cooking for and helping others. She enjoyed Gospel music and watching Gospel Channel 39.
Survivors include Earnest Kenneth Adams, Amory; son, Kenneth W. “Kenny” Adams (Linda), Amory; son-in-law, Larry Shelton, Olive Branch; sisters, Chestine Hankins (Robert), Mount Olive, AL, Janie Hodges, Vernon, and Peggy Gault (Bobby), Hamilton; brother, Raymond Edward Williams (Wilma), Amory; grandchildren, Evan Adams (Courtney), Melanie Dansby (Denton) and Melissa Adams; great-grandchildren, Denny and Mason Dansby, Austin Adams, Jared Mims, and Owen, Ty and Charli-Kate Adams; several nieces & nephews; special sisters-in-law, Dorothy Richardson, Ruby Nell Parham and Dimple Dahlem; and special friends, Mary Allen and Kenny Shelton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Angie Shelton; sisters, Frances Murrah, Christine Holcomb, and Doris Williams; brother, G. J. “Buddy” Williams; and grandchild, Angelyn Rachon Shelton.
A Funeral Service will be held at 3:30 PM, Friday, December 26 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Rev. Brian Gordon and Dr. Allen Simpson officiating. Burial will follow in Haughton Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Mark and Danny Parham, Buddy Parham, Phillip and Richard Williams, and James Larry and Charles Holcomb. Honorary pallbearers will be Glyn Dahlem, David Gault and Roger Holcomb.
Visitation will be from 2 – 3:20 PM, Friday at the funeral home.
