Amory- Martha Jo Haney, 75, died Monday, January 20, 2014 at NMMC. Born July 10, 1938 in Monroe County, she was a daughter of James Vardaman “JV” and Clara Mize Dabbs. She married William G. “Bill” Haney in 1960. A graduate of Becker school, she was employed at Amory Garment, Peoplelounger and Monroe County Shopper. She was a member of River Bend Baptist Church. A lady of great faith, she was very generous and had a determined mind. Enjoying God’s creation, she loved being in the outdoors gardening, riding her tractor, tilling, sewing, traveling with friends, attending church functions, but most of all, being with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters, Sherry Evans (Frank), Oxford and Kathy Corbell (Tim), Amory; brothers, James Roy Dabbs (JoAnn), Amory and Larry Ray Dabbs (Charlotte), Amory; grandchildren, Laura Michele Greenlee (James), Memphis, Staci Lannese Corbell, Saltillo, Kelsey Taryn Medley, Southaven, MacKenzi Paige Corbell, Fulton; great grandchildren, Adah Jade, Nolan, Jenna Kay and Emmett; special friend and faithful companion, Joe Easter.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her sister, Frances Dabbs.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1pm, Thursday, January 23, 2014 at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Roy McHenry and Bro. Mike Tucker officiating. Burial will follow in Durrett Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Daniel Dabbs, David Dabbs, Lamar Minor, Jamie Corbell, Corey Minor, James Greenlee and Justin Kennedy. Honorary pallbearers will be the employees of the Monroe County Shopper.
Visitation will be Thursday morning prior to the service from 11am until 12:45pm.
