Huntsville, AL— Mariko Funabashi Hathcock, 89, passed away on December 20, 2017. Born on April 18, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Tomiichi and You Sakuma Funabashi.
Mariko graduated college in Nagoya, Japan. She met Douglas W. Hathcock during the Korean War, and they married in August 1958. Mariko was a very private lady, and she mostly kept to herself. She was quiet most of the time. She loved her family and was known for her excellent Japanese food that she cooked. Mariko cherished her family. She will be missed, but her memory lives on.
Mariko is survived by her daughter, Lori Mullins (Wayne), Brownsboro, AL; grandchildren, Eric Mullins (Jessica), Alicia Hall (Dewayne); great-granchild, Kelsey Mullins; special friends, Judy Mullins and Teresa Braggs.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas, and her great-granddaughter, Kayleigh Mullins.
A graveside service will be held for Mariko at the Masonic Cemetery in Amory on Friday, December 22, 2017, at 1:00PM. Bro. Justin Myers will be officiating.
Visitation will be from 12:00-12:45PM at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory.
