Marie Phillips

Smithville — Marie Phillips, 72, passed away on Friday, November 2, 2018, at her residence in Smithville, MS. Marie was born in Pennsylvania on August 26, 1946, to Frank and Anna Ebenthal.

Marie graduated with the Amory High School class of 1968. She married William Leon Phillips and together they were blessed with a large family. She initially worked a career at Amory Garment and later became a stay-at-home mom. God and family meant everything to her and she could often be found reading her Bible. One could tell she loved the Lord and she was a member of the Church of Christ.

Marie was involved with The Learning Center, Region 3 and she loved doing crafts with different groups. She loved her animals, especially cats, as well as all kinds of outdoor activities especially fishing. One of her closest friends was Haley Phillips and they loved to go shopping together. She was a funny person who made people laugh and she had a huge heart. When someone was in need, she would do whatever she could to help them.
She was so proud of her kids and grandkids and Marie was thankful for all the wonderful family memories. The love and kindness Marie gave throughout her lifetime will live on in the hearts of her loved ones forever.

Marie is survived by her sons, Russell Phillips (Diane), Amory, John Phillips (Melinda), Peppertown, Leon Phillips, Smithville; daughters, Kathy Hiangphothiehack (Van), Tupelo, Jenny Sawyer (Phillip), Booneville; daughter-in-law, Sandra Phillips, Amory; 29 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Leon Phillips; son, William Edward Phillips; grandson, Johnathan Phillips; brothers, Thomas and Frank Ebenthal; sister, Cathy Poole.

A funeral service will be held at 3:30 PM, Sunday, November 4, 2018, at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home with Mr. Jamison Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Tony Phillips, Steve Phillips, Van Hiangphothichack, Seth Hiangphothichack, Roman Phillips, Kaden Phillips, Wayne Cox, and P.J. Sawyer. Honorary Pallbearers will be Travis Luker, Glen Luker, and Michael Cox.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2018, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home in Amory.
