Amory – Marie Allene Hood Cantrell, 69, passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2015, at NMMC, Tupelo. Born on December 10, 1945, in Tupelo, she was a daughter of Emma Dixie Worthy Hood and the late Lonnie Allen Hood.
Allene attended Nettleton Schools. On July 10, 1985, she married Michael Cantrell. A seamstress, Allene worked for Nettle Craft and retired from Action Industries. A Christian lady of strong faith, she was a member of Victory Baptist Church. Her love for life was guided by God and family. Having a heart of compassion, she was passionate about her animals. Allene enjoyed riding horses; fishing, especially for catfish; caring for her rose gardens, riding motorcycles and three-wheelers; and listening to Gospel music.
Survivors include her husband, best friend, and soulmate, Michael Lynn Cantrell, Amory; mother, Dixie Hood, Nettleton; daughters, Tammy Clippard (David), Nettleton, and Stacy Ann Cantrell, Yulee, FL; son, Myron Sullivan (Abby), Nettleton; sister, Shelia Elliott (John Bourque), Tupelo; brother, Lonnie Hood (Jimmie), Nettleton; grandchildren, Hayden and Alex Vance; Blake, Tyler, and Dustin Clippard; Anna and Alana Sullivan; great-granddaughter, Bella Kate Sullivan; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her sons, Jeremy and Bryan Sullivan; a niece, Dana Hancock; and other family members.
Her Funeral Service will be held at 2 PM, Tuesday, September 22, 2015, at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory, with Bro. Robert E. Fowlkes officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dustin Clippard, Jamie Harlow, Tim Johnson, Danny Sullivan, Scott Sullivan, and Ronnie Cantrell. Honorary pallbearers will be Hayden and Alex Vance; and Blake and Tyler Clippard.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Monday and from 1 PM until the service hour at the funeral home.
