Amory – Maribeth Wall Lewis, 75, died on Thursday, February 9, 2012, at Gilmore Memorial Regional Medical Center. Born on November 7, 1936, in Newton, she was a daughter of the late E. Rosser and Cecil Major Wall.
Mrs. Lewis was a graduate of Newton High School and attended Belhaven College. On August 18, 1957, she married Jerry R. Lewis in Newton. After moving to Amory, she worked as a receptionist for Dr. Oakes and Dr. Hodges. A woman of faith, Mrs. Lewis was a member of Meadowood Baptist Church and had served as a Sunday School teacher, Acteens leader, and Bible Drill teacher. A vibrant lady who was passionate about life, her family and grandchildren were her pride-and-joy. Giving and creative, Mrs. Lewis was responsible for creating the Singing Christmas Tree and was a supporter of French Camp. She enjoyed singing, cooking, taking care of her grandchildren, Classical and Gospel music, and Elvis Christmas songs.
A Committal Service will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, February 11 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Dr. Lloyd Sweatt officiating. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Matthew Lewis, Byron Hurt, Josh Maxey, Joe Bagwell, Jess Faulkner, and Seth Lee.
Visitation will be from Noon – 1:45 PM, Saturday at the funeral home.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry R. Lewis; daughters, Betty Bagwell (Joe) and Jane Maxey; and son, Jerry M. Lewis (Rhonda), all of Amory; brother, E. Rosser Wall, Shelbyville, TN; and grandchildren, Carroll Lee (Seth), Matthew Lewis, Emily Faulkner (Jess), Byron Hurt, Josh Maxey, and Sarah Beth Maxey.
Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association, 196 Charmant Dr., Ste. 4, Ridgeland, MS 39157.
