Amory – Margaret Marie Powell, 82, died on Tuesday, November 13, 2012, at NMMC. Born on September 11, 1930, in Bogalusa, LA, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Lillian McNeese.
Mrs. Powell grew up and attended school in California. She married James Floyd Powell, on May 8, 1948 and they returned to Smithville in 1959 to raise their family. She was a member of Smithville Baptist Church and retired as a seamstress from Sprint Boats. A very loving, kind hearted, and strong lady, she enjoyed reading, traveling with her family, and watching her children play basketball in earlier years. She also loved to watch basketball on T.V.
She is survived by her daughters, Glenda Keeton (Ray), Amory, Diane Murray (Wade), Smithville.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Michael Parham (Kim), Milan, TN, Bradley Parham (Katherine), Amory, Jason Keeton, Amory, Chris Murray (Doreen), Broken Arrow, OK, Amanda Murray Lay (John Michael), Amory.
She was the proud great grandmother of Ethan Bickerstaff, Ryan Parham, Ashlee Parham, Allison Parham, Jillian Lay, Turner Murray, Claire Murray, Jenna Kate Murray.
A special friend Sue Faulkner and a host of nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Randall Powell; sisters, Hilda Young and Elaine Rogers; brothers, John Walton, Frank and William McNeese.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 AM, Friday, November 16, at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Allen Simpson officiating. Burial will follow in Smithville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Parham, Ryan Parham, Bradley Parham, Jason Keeton, Chris Murray, John Michael Lay, Ethan Bickerstaff and Teddy Faulkner. Honorary Pallbearers will be Lynn Faulkner and Turner Murray.
