Nettleton –Margaret Jones Grissom, 64, passed away on Sunday, June 11, 2017, in Tupelo, MS. Born on August 28, 1952, in Monroe County, MS, she was a daughter of Lottie Lorene Kennedy Jones and the late Roy Jones.
Margaret was raised in Nettleton, MS, where she attended Nettleton High School and graduated with the Class of 1970. She then obtained her associate’s degree from Itawamba Community College. Margaret married the love of her life on August 6, 1971.
Her greatest passions in life were her faith in God, her love for her children and grandchildren, and her pride for the Smithville Seminoles. She was a member of Smithville Baptist Church, where she was an ardent supporter of church missions. Margaret found enjoyment in spending time with her grandchildren and playing the piano. She was also very passionate about organ donation.
Margaret was very fond of listening to Christian and Gospel music, as well as spending an afternoon napping, working Sudoku puzzles, or simply sitting on the front porch chatting on her telephone.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Steve Grissom, Nettleton; mother, Lorene Jones; daughters, Wendy Cox (Barry), Coldwater, Mich, April Adams (Tommy), Mantachie, Kerri King (Brad), Byhalia; brother, Ricky Jones (Charlotte), Nettleton; grandchildren, Courtney Smith, Caitlin Smith, Sydney Lange, Tyler Grissom, Will Lange, Gracie Cox, Tyler Adams; several nieces and nephews; and an abundance of friends.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her sister, Gayle Todd; niece, Cindy Starling; and nephew, Chris Jones.
Her Funeral Service will be at 3 PM, Wednesday, June 14 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory, with Pastor Wes White officiating. Burial will follow at Jones Chapel in Nettleton. Pallbearers will be Johnny Brown, Tyler Adams, Brad King, Bo Stevens, Greg McNeese, and Phil Burt.
Visitation will be from 5-8 PM, Tuesday, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105.
