Smithville – Marga L. “Oma” “Nanny” Addington, 73, died on Tuesday, November 2, 2010, at Gilmore Memorial RMC. Born on September 10, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Karl and Helene Schock Fehrle.
A wonderful and caring lady, Mrs. Addington was educated in Germany and began working at a young age to help her family following World War II. Having lived in Smithville since 1968, she retired from Smithville Sewing Factory after 32 years of service. Her close friend and co-worker, Hazel, traveled together and enjoyed recalling days-gone-by. A Protestant, Easter was her favorite holiday. Hardworking and caring yet firm, Mrs. Addington always kept her home neat and clean. She enjoyed watching deer from the breakfast nook as well as the squirrels and hummingbirds. Mrs. Addington enjoyed German folk music, the Eagles, mariachi music, flower gardening, sewing and baking pies, cakes and breads. At Thanksgiving and Christmas, she always cooked for her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Liane Addington Fehrle, son, John Addington, Smithville, and sister, Lillie Dunnigan, all of Smithville; brother, Otto Fehrle, Schonaich, Germany; grandchildren, Josh and Brandy Addington, Layla Hood, Crystal Wilkinson and Clay Moreland; great-grandchildren, Dakota Roe, Jasmine and Reana Hood and Phillip, Micha and Lidia Wilkinson; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Argus Preston Addington, sister, Karin and brother, Harry.
A Memorial service for Marga L. Addington will be held at 2 PM, Saturday at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Smithville with Bro. Ben Loveless officiating.
Visitation will be from 1 – 2 PM, Saturday at the funeral home in Smithville.
