BECKER – Mamie Lou Jackson Honeycutt, 88, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2015, at her residence. Born June 28, 1926, in Aberdeen, she was a daughter of the late Hollis and Cora Barnes Jackson.
Mrs. Honeycutt attended Aberdeen schools and was a farmer. A lady of strong faith, she was a devoted Bible reader. One who believed in doing things right, she sewed her own dresses. A simple lady who was a hard-worker, Mrs. Honeycutt cherished spending time with her son as well as working in her garden. She loved to dance and enjoyed going to the VFW.
Survivors include her granddaughters, Carol Elaine Harris (David), Amory, Jacqueline Michelle Bracken, Mooreville, Amy Renee Aven (Mark), Mooreville, and Richelle Honeycutt Anderson (Tom), Tupelo; 6 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Sue H. Honeycutt, Tupelo; and cousins, Bobby & Josie Hudson, Iva Jean Jackson, and J. W. Jackson, all of Aberdeen.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Woodie Honeycutt, while honorably serving as a pilot in World War II in 1945; son, Carl Woodie Honeycutt, Jr.; an aunt who reared her, Ida Smitherman; and brothers, Floyd and Lloyd Jackson.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
