Amory — Malinda Jean Thornton, 60, passed away on Friday, January 3, 2020. Born in Monroe County, MS on January 11, 1959, she was a daughter of Henry Forrest and Edith Geneva Johnson Ritter.
Malinda graduated from Amory High School and worked at Block’s Sportswear for many years. She married the love of her life, Richard Gene Thornton, and together they were blessed with a son. She cared for her family more than anything and spending time with them brought her great joy. Malinda was of the Baptist faith and loved the Lord and sharing his love with others. Family and Faith were cornerstones in her life. Malinda liked to stay active and often planted flowers and went for walks. In her free time, she enjoyed crocheting, coloring, and reading.
Malinda dearly loved her family and was a devoted wife and mother. She will be missed, but the memories she created will last forever in the hearts of her loved ones.
Malinda is survived by her son, Jack Thornton; sister, Michele Galloway; brothers, Tim Galloway, Rodney Galloway; and niece and nephews, Chris Rhudy, Tim Galloway Jr., and Amy Galloway.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Gene Thornton; and brother, Steven Galloway.
A private family gathering will take place at a later date.
