Maedene Weatherly Jones

Amory – Maedene Weatherly Jones, 86, died on Sunday, September 7, 2014, at Gilmore Memorial RMC. Born on September 16, 1927, in Amory, she was a daughter of the late James Thomas and Lillie Vercie Kennedy Weatherly.

Mrs. Jones was a graduate of Amory High School, Class of 1945, and attended Mississippi State University. On September 15, 1946, she married James Kenneth “Big Foot” Jones. Loving, giving, devoted, and always placing others first, Mrs. Jones was a homemaker. Guided by her faith in Christ, she was a member of First Baptist Church and the Wilma Stockton Sunday school class. Mrs. Jones cherished her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed Church music and word puzzles.

Survivors include her daughter, Gail Jones Chisholm (Bob), Tupelo; sons, Gary Kenton Jones (Sherry), Madison, and Gregg Jones (Diane), Houston, TX; sister, Maureen Weatherly Allen (Keith), Amory; grandchildren, Wesley Jones Nelson (J), Jackson, Brad Jones (Amanda), Starkville, Shelby Jones White (Adam), Madison, Jordan Jones Hays (Ross), Charlottesville, VA, Matt Chisholm, Amory, Haley Caroline Jones, Madison; great-grandchildren, Brody & Archer Jones, Starkville; Ella Kate and Walker Nelson, Jackson; Hunter White, Madison; several nieces and nephews; and numerous family and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, James Kenneth Jones, Jr.; brother, James Harold Weatherly; grandson, Kyle Barrett Jones.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10 AM, Wednesday, September 10 at First Baptist Church, Amory with Dr. Allen Simpson and Bro. Jimmy McFatter officiating. A Graveside Service will follow in Masonic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her nephews.

Visitation will be from 5 - 8 PM, Tuesday at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home and from 9 AM until the service hour on Wednesday at the church.

Memorials may be given to First Baptist Church Organ Maintenance Fund, PO Box 540, Amory, MS 38821.
