Amory – Madie Guyton, 77, died on Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at her residence. Born on July 5, 1937, in Nettleton, she was a daughter of the late Coy and Virgie Oliver Worthey.
She attended Bigbee School. A homemaker, she loved being a caretaker and a volunteer at Gilmore Memorial Hospital. Loving, outgoing, nurturing and always on the go, she enjoyed time with her family, gardening, being outdoors, reading, collecting salt & pepper shakers and cookies jars, and Gospel and Country music. Passionate about her grandchildren and animals, she was of the Non-denominational faith.
Survivors include her daughters, Donna Ree Randolph (Mike), Melba Louise Caldwell, Lea Ann Barnes (Paul), Nettleton; sisters, Barbara Riley (Jimmy), Nettleton, Paulette Fowlkes (Jimmy), Becker, Cordeilla Guyton (Truman), Hodges, AL, Willbe Crouch, Red Bay, AL; brother, Jamie Worthey (Samita), Houston; grandchildren, Ronald “RJ” Ross Smitherman, Jr., Amory, Jerry Wayne Sain, Jr., Hendersonville, TN; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend, Evelyn Laney.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Mitchell Guyton; and brothers, Rolie, Malcom and Brandon Worthey.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1 PM, Saturday, July 26 at Victory Baptist Church, Nettleton with Bro. Robert E. Fowlkes officiating. Burial will follow in Haughton Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Brad Starr, Chad Galloway, Donnie Plunkett, Jr., Carl Weatherspoon, Mark Hester, and Chad Huddleston. Honorary pallbearer will be Jimmy Holley.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Friday at Victory Baptist Church, Nettleton.
