Amory – Madgie “Peggy” Thunderburk, 85, died on Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at Golden Living Center. Born on September 14, 1929, in Amory, she was a daughter of the late Joda and Burdie Tate Bullock.
Mrs. Thunderburk attended Hatley High School. A homemaker, she worked in housekeeping at Golden Living Center, as a seamstress in the garment industry, and was a former restaurant owner. Mrs. Thunderburk was a member of Faith Baptist Church. She was passionate about spending time with her family and friends. Always having a smile, she enjoyed knitting, sewing, dressing up, playing Bingo, and softball.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Kayla Taylor (Josh Mills) and Brandon Cox, Becker; step-son, Randy Lyle (Mary), Huntsville, AL; brother, Jay Bullock (Donna), Blue Springs; great-grandchildren, Braxton Harlow, Bryce McAlester, Destinee Johnston; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Junior Thunderburk; daughters, Cindy Hawkins and Kathy Johnston; son, Tommy Hawkins; sister, Laverne Bullock Worley; brother, Red Chaney; grandson, Shane Johnston; and nephews, Lee and Jerry Chaney.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 PM, Thursday, June 12 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Wade Cook officiating. Private family inurnment will be held on Friday.
Visitation will be from 12:30 – 1:50 PM, Thursday at the funeral home.
