Mable West

Smithville – Mable Moreland West, 80, died on Sunday, May 8, 2011, at her residence. Born on July 20, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Early and Lerah Finch Moreland.
Mrs. West attended Becker Schools where she played basketball. She married William F. West in 1947, and worked as a seamstress for McCoy and Glenn Manufacturing. Mrs. West was of the Baptist faith. An independent lady, she enjoyed listening to Bluegrass and Gospel music, fishing, gardening and flower gardening. Mrs. West looked forward to outings with her friends. Her great-grandson, John David, was her pride-and-joy.
She is survived by her daughter, Patti (David) Steele and son, William E. (Pat) West, both of Amory; sisters, Laura Coleman, Georgia, Eddy Moffett and Becky Mitchell, both of Amory; six grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; eight step- great-grandchildren ; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William F. West in 1982; sisters, Marine Beardon and Nelda Roberts; and brother, George Moreland.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11 AM, Tuesday, May 10 in Calvary Church Cemetery with eulogist Becky Mitchell officiating. Pallbearers will be Kevin Faulkner, Jason and Brandon Moffett, E. G. Peacock, Shane Wilson and John Strevel. Honorary pallbearers will be Eric Mills, Rex Ranson, Joel Pardubsky, Scott and Ryan West, and Joseph Strevel.
Everyone is asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:30 AM, Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery.
