Mable English Pace

Mable Kathryn English Pace, 80, went peacefully to her eternal home in heaven on Wednesday, September 6 at her home in Wren. During these past months of illness, she has been surrounded by her husband, children and grandchildren who love her dearly. Gan, as she was affectionally called by all, was born on October 25, 1936 in Aberdeen, MS, the daughter of Felix Randolph and Katie Bell Moss English.
Mable graduated from Wren School in 1954 where she was a standout basketball player. She attended Birmingham Business College on a basketball scholarship. Returning home, she worked as a telephone operator for Southern Bell Telephone Company in Aberdeen, MS. She later transferred to the Jackson, MS office of Southern Bell where she met her forever love, Joseph Edward Pace of Jackson, MS. They married at Tranquil Methodist Church in Wren Ms, on October 11, 1959, and returned to Wren in 1961 after the death of her father and brother to be close to her mother and sisters. They owned and operated several businesses over the years including J&M Leather. They traveled throughout the South to various arts and craft shows with their handcrafted leather belts. They loved to travel and have visited 49 states and 4 countries through various cruises and tours. One of their favorite trips was a tour of Israel and the Holy Land. Another one of her joys in life was traveling with her family for many years as Joe, and their children, Kim & Eddie sang gospel music as The Pace Family throughout the South. Her love for Pop, her family, and serving others is forever instilled in the hearts of her children and grandchildren. Her happiest times were spent with family, around her table, at church, or on a sports field watching her grandchildren. Her favorite places were her garden, her kitchen and anywhere with Pop. She loved cooking, reading, gardening and her church family at North MS Worship Center where Joe, Kim and Eddie sing together with the church praise team, continuing the gift of music in their family for almost 50 years.
She was a faithful, loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Joseph Pace, Wren; son, Eddie Pace, Wren; daughter, Kim (Phil) Carson, Wren. Also left and very precious to her, grandchildren Trent Pace, Brooke Pace, Cody (Madison) Carson, of Charlotte, NC, Clay Carson, Anna Kathryn Carson, Claire Carson, Caroline Carson; great-granddaughter, Charlee Pace Carson; sisters, Martha (Perry) Smith of Tupelo, MS Sandra (Dub) Harris of Nettleton, MS and many nieces and nephews with whom she enjoyed many wonderful family meals and holidays.
Mom will be remembered by her love for Jesus and the supernatural peace He gave her on her journey. She expressed recently that one of her greatest sources of peace was that all seven of her grandchildren know and serve the Lord, and she said “What more could I ask for?” Her last words to her family were “peace and joy”. They have peace and she is filled with joy in the presence of her Savior.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Joe English.
A celebration of life service will be at 11:00 A.M., Friday, September 8, 2017 at the North MS Worship Center in Wren, MS. Bro. Dudley Nash, Sister Lucy Nash and Bro. Jimmy Winders will be officiating. Burial will follow in Coontail Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Cody Carson, Clay Carson, Trent Pace, Spencer Harris, Brad Harris, and Shawn Roberts.
